Junagadh is a town of historical importance. It is situated at the foot of the celebrated mount Girnar. The town junagadh derives its name from the old fortress situated in the uparkot (Citadel) . The uparkot forms the ancient Junagadh, which was named Mustafabad by Mahmud Begada

Somnath Temple-The temple has been built and destroyed six times. The present structure was rebuilt the seventh time. There a number of legends attached to the Somnath Temple of India. It is said that the Moon God, Chandra was married to 27 daughters of Daksh Prajapati, but he favored Rohini.
